When Does Baby Start Crawling

When Does Baby Start Crawling?

When your baby is born, all of their small achievements are counted as big milestones. When baby roll over, when they start to walk, crawl, say something incoherent, get their first tooth, etc. Here is when does baby start crawling.

The Age When Baby Starts To Crawl

Your baby will start crawling at the age of 6 months or so, give or take a few weeks. 6 months is the perfect age for the baby to frolic around and use their hands and knees to their complete benefit. Their muscles and bones are strong enough so that they can fully support themselves on their hands and knees. It is a very developmental process for babies and this also imparts strength and rigidity to the malleable bodies of the babies.

How To Help Your Baby Crawl?

If you are getting concerned about your baby not starting to crawl and wondering when does baby start crawling, here are some things that will make things easy for the baby and things will sail smoothly.

  • Tummy Time

Tummy time is nothing but allowing your baby to rest its entire body on its tummy. This is a very good exercise for your baby and it helps to encourage them to use their hands and knees to roll over too. Give about 1 to 2 hours, intervened at 10 to 15 minutes, of tummy time a day for your baby. This will engage the entire body to help the baby brace itself on its hands and knees.

  • Elevation Of The Hands

Try to encourage the baby to engage their hands in everything that they do. Elevation of the hands will help in strengthening the muscles and it will in crawling later on too. This is where you need to get creative and help your baby figure out how to play with their hands elevated. Try to incorporate these kinds of exercises into their everyday routine. This will help a lot in crawling.

  • Let The Baby See The Progress

Babies are very motivated to do better once they see how they are doing by themselves. Place a mirror in front of the baby and see their reaction. They will study their own reflection and challenge themselves. Give them tummy time in front of the mirror and encourage them to stand up in front of the mirror too. This will groom the child to help them crawl faster.

Encourage Self Support

Try to not let your child get used to supporting devices, like jumping chairs, high chairs, and things like that. Encourage your baby to support their bodies on their own legs. This will engage the muscles of the feet and it will strengthen them which, in turn, will also help them to learn to crawl faster. They just need a little push from you to start.

Conclusion

Every baby is different, so their development will be different too. It doesn’t mean that something is wrong with the baby, but they are just sprouting at their own pace.
